Under 6s

Under 6 Year 1 training has now restarted.

Welcome to the Under 6's (Year 1) Section of the Cramlington United Web site.

We have our training sessions at Burnside Primary School, and they begin at 09:00 until around 10:30, and then we move indoors from November to Cramlington Sporting Club between 09:00 and 10:00.

The Lead Coach is Mal Ross, and also coaching are Helen Grieves-Dunwoody and Dave Collins, who are all experienced and FA Level 1 Qualified.

In addition, we will also have guest coaches in attendance throughout the season,  to give our players even more variety and enjoyment in their sessions, and our aim is to continue to provide a fun environment for all of the players taking part this season.

We will also be introducing a lot of coaching based on the Dutch "Coerver Coaching" method for some games and sessions, where the focus is on individual ball mastery and small sided games. This helps our players to build skills and confidence, both individually and as part of a team where they can enjoy total football.

At this entry level we are responsible for the initial development of each player in our group so our main focus at this time is to ensure that above all else the players have a positive experience which will encourage them to keep coming back and enjoying the game.

For this reason the key thing we ask each player is they have fun and enjoy themselves.

If you would like to know any more, have any feedback, suggestion or ideas for us, or just want to get in touch to say Hello and tell us about you, please send us an email or come and see us either before or after training.

Have a great season

New League at Complete Soccer September 2011

Cramlington United has been asked to consider submitting a team to play from September 2011 in a League at Complete Soccer in Gosforth (http://www.thenmsl.co.uk/index.html).

Usually, our group (who will be year 2 Under 7's) would start to play in a League later on in 2012, but as we have this opportunity for the players to start playing in a structured match environment for the first time, I feel it would give us a fantastic opportunity to help the players progress even further.

This would mean registering the same squad of 10 players together as a team (Our current U7's have 2 teams playing, and are called the Panthers & Pumas).

As we continue to grow as a Club, our Year 1 group currently have 45 players registered, with about 32 regular attendees, so depending on how many players wanted to commit to weekly football as part of a registered squad, I would consider submitting at least 2 squads/teams.

This would mean the players begin to understand more about football earlier on, with the chance to play against other clubs. However, I would stress that any players who don’t want to play in the teams will continue to receive fantastic training sessions and won’t be disadvantaged, as at this age, some players will benefit by playing in teams and others won’t.

League games are played on a Sunday, so I would appreciate it if you could have a good chat with your player to see what they would like to do - and also think about committing yourself too, as support and encouragement is more than appreciated at this level on matchdays.

Then over the next few months if you could give me an idea if your player would be available for selection, we can then begin making plans ready for September, as well as working on more "match specific" sessions in training.

Hope you've found this useful, and as ever, if you have any questions, concerns, feedback, ideas, or just want a chat, please get in touch.

Year 1 Under 6 Training

Now we are back on the field, we would like to extend the year 1 session, so it would run 09:00 until around 10:30.

This is to enable the players to enjoy their session for longer (as some only have the 1 hour's football per week), allow us to introduce a few more variations into the sessions, and also help to give the players more experience, fitness and general football time, whilst continuing to have fun.

Obviously, to do this, would require the support of the parents, and if you or your player needs to leave at 10:00 as normal then they are more than welcome - all I would ask is you let me know at the beginning of the session (or before) so I can plan the end games accordingly based on numbers.

Also, players should ensure they have enough to drink to keep them hydrated - and also suntan cream/lotion applied if it appears to be a sunny day.

Our season so far

At this entry level we are responsible for the initial development of each member in our group. Our main focus at this time is to ensure that above all else the children have a positive experience which will encourage them to keep coming back and enjoying the game. For this reason the number one rule we tell each child is they are to have fun.
