U16's off to a flyer!

Cramlington United Under 16s have enjoyed a very impressive start to the season. The team has retained a good number of players from last season and they have been complimented with some promising new signings for this season's campaign.

The boys began with a home league game against Tynemouth United. A great chance for the new signings to show what they could do and in particular new boys Josh Pyle & George Hedley put in what manager Phil Hattan described as 'solid performances'. United ran out 7-1 winners  after a great early season hat trick from Tom Cracket, two goals from Chris Dryburgh and Man of the Match Dan Gray chipping in with a season opener for his account. An own goal completed the scoring and Josh Pyle finished the accolades, claiming the coaches Man of the Match award.

Sunday saw the lads take on Wideopen in the Rangers Cup. Tom Cracket continued his free scoring run with a haul of 4 goals with Chris Dryburg claiming another couple of goals. The Man of the Match award went to Josh Pyle for another great performance with the coaches Man of the Match going to Corey Douglas. As much as the 6-0 scoreline was impressive it was the manner of the result that stood out. Charlie Holmes had  a firm hand in the result with 4 goal assists from the left wing. It was another day for the new signings with former Newcastle City centre half Alex Gallagher making his full debut and with new keeper David Cooper having a comfortable time in goal due to the fact that the only time he saw the ball was as a result of defensive backpasses, such was the dominance of the possession.
