Teenage Cancer Trust

Teenage Cancer Trust North East and Cramlington United Football Club have formed an association through a shared ethos of putting teenagers and young adults first and as patients and players second. By working together we aim to increase the funding and awareness of Teenage Cancer Trust whilst enabling Cramlington United Football Club to continue its work of supplying sporting activities within the Local Community.  The association is the first of its kind as no other Grassroots football club have a relationship with a charity such as this..

As you may know Cramlington United Football Club was formed in the summer of 2010, and within 12 months was awarded Community Club Status, a feat which is not only unique in the Northumberland area but in the whole of the UK. Not only do the Club believe that football should be available to everyone and delivered in a fun and friendly environment but as a Club we have an extremely strong set of values, believing that children above all else are the key to the future of this sport.  The supporting Club culture and appropriate behaviours promote fairness and sportsmanship and throughout the Club there is a belief that everyone has the potential within themselves to succeed.

Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity dedicated to providing specialist units in hospitals for teenagers with cancer. The Teenage Cancer Trust unit at the Great North Children’s Hospital (RVI, Newcastle) and the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle treat and support young cancer patients from all over the North East.  These units provide care to teenagers to help them fight against cancer, whilst at the same time offering an environment which is as close as possible to a young person’s life outside. As well as providing these specialist units The Trust delivers support to families with young persons diagnosed with cancer, research, education and medical courses to name a few.

This unique partnership is something that we are all extremely proud of and long may it continue to flourish and help in the fight against Cancer.
